Arts
All students within our Phoenix, AZ, school network receive comprehensive performance and visual arts education, including at our arts and media prep high school, Skyline Prep. Our curricula are aligned to the Arizona State Grade Articulated and National Standards, as well as the National Standards for Arts Education.
Our arts and media prep high school courses include disciplines within the performing and visual arts. Students in grades 9-12 experience and create as they progress through dance (ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, and lyrical dance), theater, music, multi-medium and dimension art, photography, graphics, and more. Students create, relate, and evaluate from beginning to advanced levels via practical, written, and performance-based assessments.
Art programs are integrated into the daily schedule in the same way athletic programs are to provide students with stimulation around the arts. Years of research shows that art is closely linked to almost everything that we as a nation say we want for our children and demand from our schools: academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement, and equitable opportunity (Smith, Edutopia, org).
